What is the SGFX warranty?
All our pedals come with a 3-year warranty.
Where are SolidGoldFX pedals made?
Every single one of our pedals is made by hand in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Which side is the input/output?
The pedal Input is always on the right and the output is always on the left.
What power supplies are recommended for use with SolidGoldFX pedals?
All of our pedals are equipped with 2.1mm DC jacks. Any properly regulated 9VDC, center negative, power supply will do the trick. We recommend the Voodoo Lab ISO5 or PP2, Cioks, T-REX Fuel Tanks or similar power units designed specifically for use with effects pedals. If you're not sure, please send us an email and we will help you sort it out.
Under no circumstances should you ever use an AC Power Supply to power your pedal.
Can I power my pedals with a daisy chained power supply?
Yes, but isolated power sources are always better and will result in a much quieter pedal board as it will avoid cross-talk and ground loops.
Can SolidGoldFX pedals be operated at 18V?
Yes, many our pedals are designed to run 9 to 18VDC. While running a higher voltage can make a significant difference in some pedals, the change is negligible in others. That being said, we do not recommend running the Apollo II or Funkzilla at higher voltages as these circuits are optimized for a 9VDC power supply.
Can a 9V battery be used with all SolidGoldFX pedals?
Most pedals allow for battery operation. However the Apollo, Buffer, Funkzilla, Mini-Boosters, Zeta DLX, Beta DLX and Surf Rider III do not have provisions for a battery due to circuit restrictions.
How do I know if I need a Buffer?
If you're running long cables, a number or true bypass pedals and are noticing a loss of high end detail when going through your effects chain versus going straight into your amp, you may need a Buffer! Buffers can also be helpful to preserve fidelity when used in an amplifier effects loops.
Where should I place the Buffer in my effects chain?
You'll have to experiment to find your ideal placement given your particular setup. We do not recommend placing the Buffer, or any other buffered pedal before vintage style fuzz circuits like the If 6 Was 9 as it will drastically alter the sound and response of the pedals.
What Y-cables do you recommend for use with the Loop on the Electroman?
We use Digiflex Y-cables but there are many others. The Digiflex part number is HIN-1S-2PB or CIN-1S-2P.
What expressions pedals are recommended for use with the Surf Rider III or Apollo II?
The expression jacks are wired with the Tip to 5V, Ring to wiper or signal and sleeve to ground, and a 10k-25kpot is ideal. We recommend the use of the Mission EP-1R for a solid, heavy duty expression pedal, or the M-Audio EX-P for a more affordable solution. Both pedals are equipped with a polarity switch. The Rocktron Utopia and HEX expression pedals should also be compatible as well as others but we have not tested them.

My pedal isn't working, what do I do?
Check your power supply/battery, make sure your cables are good and that everything is hooked up properly. Isolate the pedal, remove it from your pedal chain and just hook it straight up to your guitar and amp. If you're still having problems, give us a call or shoot us and email and we will help you out.
